How Could You Handle Stress?

Do you know that 95% of all disease are based on stress?

Would it make sense to understand how this affects you?

What is known is that we all respond to events differently.

How do you respond to a challenge? We all have filter  that dictates how we respond to stress.

Where do you respond in the range from emotional to rational?

Do you tend to respond to challenges with a more THINKING (you become disassociated with the challenge) or do you tend toward a MORE FEELING(you become associated with the challenge) approach?

Cellular Biologist Dr Bruce Lipton has made the world aware of the next revolution (as Einstein did decades ago when he found (E=MC²), and it this: Epigenetics. Your genes don’t control your life BUT your perceptions of the environment control your life.

Genes are triggered and activated based on the receptors of your cells membrane. If one grasps this fundamental idea, the world becomes your oasis; because you understand that your perception will shape your behavior.

Per dr.Joe Dispenza,There are 3 types of stress- physical, emotional and chemical. The definition of stress is when your body is out of balance (out of homeostasis).

Physical stress is trauma, accident, injuries, falls  it’s basically when there’s a violation of the body

Chemical stress, is bacteria, infection, blood level, hormones, food, hang over chemical imbalances in the body

Emotional stress is felt  like at a traffic jam,  thinking about retirement etc…

Emotion has a stronger effect on the gene-

I.e. the emotion of anger, fear, stress, make us being more object focus, more narrow focus-which is ok in a short term; i.e. you have to run from the lion, you have to worry about time, you have to worry about your environment. For a short it’s ok but in long term not sustainable.

A good amount of stress can be helpful in order for us to move, to take action… But a long term stress can be harmful, because the body gets out balance hence the disequilibrium.

That’ where learning to know how you deal with stress can be helpful..

If your filter is more toward the feeling side, you would know how to identify it and act upon it and similarly if you are more thinking based (analysis paralysis), you would know where you are in spectrum…Knowing your meter is key..

How Do You Perfom Optimally?

In what situation do you tend to perform optimally?

Wouldn’t it be nice as a leader to know the answer to that question, first for yourself and second for your team, organization, family or community?

Before we dig in, what is optimal performance?

Per Merriam Webster, the definitions of performance is as below

1- : the execution of an action: something accomplished: deed, feat

2- The fulfillment of a claim, promise, or request: implementation

3- The manner of reacting to stimuli:


In a sense a performance is a way to carry out an action.

How do you carry out an action optimally?

It is an interesting question? The next logical level is in what context?

Are you best as independent player, team player or the team manager?

In what context do you perform best? As an independent, or team player, or a manager?

In many ways, each of us has a performance filter tendency? Which one is yours?

You probably have a preferred interest filter as well?

What interests you most in life? Do you focus mostly on people, places, things, activities OR information?

If you had a perfect day, how would you live it? How would it be? If you can design it?

What do you prefer to spend your personal time doing? Do you focus mostly on people? Or is it on places? Or is it on things, or is it in doing things?

The tendency in your preferred interest filter is a good guidance in knowing your work satisfaction filter.

The key question to ask yourself is this: do you tend to like working with people, things OR systems? Is it people, things, OR systems?

The more you can figure out your frame of reference the more you can find out your optimal zone in performance.

How Do People Make Decision ?

How do people make decision?

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to anticipate or to predict people decision?

Whether it is at work or it is at home with family and friends?

Here we’ll discuss how we can learn to predict and understand people way of making decision.

It’s a fact that we all have tendencies when it comes to exploring and making decision.

What are your tendencies? What are the tendencies of your spouse? Or of your business partner or of your teammates?

What evidence do you rely on when you make decisions?

What do I mean by that?

We all primarily explore the universe and our surroundings with different senses. Some people are primarily visual, some people are primarily kin-esthetic, and some auditory first etc…

So the awareness question is to find out “Are you more convinced when you see evidence, hear it, read about it, OR prove it by doing it?”

What is more relevant for you? What is your decision making filter?

That understanding and awareness will help to feed it back at that person so that so you can be more effective in your communication.

The next level of this awareness is to understand what’s your convincer filter?

How often you tend to go through your decision-making strategy or how much time you need before you are convinced to take action or make a judgment

Are you convinced automatically OR must you weigh a number of options before you make a choice?

Knowing these will allow dealing with yourself or people in your surroundings.

The homework is in this time is for you to find out what is your decision making filter and what is your convincer filter?

TWO Important Key Each Leader Has To Know

Are you a leader?  If you are reading this , I assume you are!!!

Well do you know what is your team leader orientation tendency ? As a matter of fact do you know your own orientation tendency?

Do you  do things out of necessity or out possibility?

There’s no right or wrong answer, but as a leader you have to know this about yourself and your team. Whether your team is your family, your children or at work.

We all have an orientation or a preference by what we are motivated the most.(not to confuse with the motivation filter we discussed couple podcast ago- between moving toward an moving away); these two notions seem close but they are different in a sense that one is a motivation strategy filter while here the possibility versus the necessity is an orientation filter strategy.

Why is this important to know as a leader?

The relevance is this when you have a team of people, and you have some tasks to be accomplished. The necessity person will be driven by “should” and “must” elements and factors. Positions like Quality control an security is involved will be well suited for people with necessity orientation.

While on the other hand, possibility seeker looks for newness, variety, new challenges and they are driven by  what can I do? What could I do? what are the possibilities? They are driven by the unknown almost. Explorer or maverick would fit this position.

Or looking for head of  research position, this would be a good position for the possibility seeker.

As it is this could be applied in all areas of our lives; at work , in our close surroundings; which is your leading orientation filter?

The homework today is for you first to find out your tendency(whether, possibility or necessity), then find out your closest friends and family.

One key question to uncover the tendency is for example to ask at a job. Why did you chose this position? this job, this company?  Keeping in mind and in fairness (we’re not talking about extreme cases of survival, where by instinct everybody will oscillate toward survival first).

What Everyone Ought to Know about Taking Action!!!

Any great achievement was done by people that knew how to manage themselves.

As we discussed previously amply, EMOTION is E-Motion (Energy in Motion). Emotion is the fuel to our actions.

What motivates you? How do you get motivated?

Is it car, compensation, it is a great house? what is it?

The good news is it can be boiled down into two things: Pain or Pleasure!!!

We are all motivated to take action based on

  • on our perception of pain(closely related to your survival instinct).
  • our expectation of a pleasure for future or expectations

Even-tough we can generalize,  each of us as a predominance toward one of the other.Which one is yours?

How do I find out? Ask yourself.

What do you want in a career/relationship/business/environment…etc?

Let me guess your answer?

You said one of these two things I want/like/love xyz or abc, lmn.. or you said I don’t like-want-love xyz, abc.. or was it a combination of both of these.

Depending on your leading answer for the most part, if you started with I want, it means you are moving toward motivated person.

On the other hand if you started with I don’t want , it suggests that primarily(at least regarding that area-business-relationship etc..)  you are moving away driven.

There’s no wrong answer but only an awareness needed. As these don’t changes really unless significant emotional impact. How this can be useful for ourselves when to take action.

It  is  very relevant in many applications as I explain in the podcast.

For example at a personal level if you are for example in sales(where you have to generate your own income). If you know where you stand you can lead your way into actions. for example a move away  person usually will be  triggered into working /taking actions for the most part when into time crunch or under pressure or when the person is in its goal threshold.

If the person is moving toward driven, the best way to move yourself could be for example to post in front of you , or around your phone station or computer, an image of the wanted car, house, expansive watch, vacation or whatever there is that is your goal or target.

That can be applied in any areas of our lives, or career.

Now the next level of mastery, is to look for the people around us at work or in our relationships.

what is their dominant motivation framework?Is it toward, or away. That could be  your homework for next time..Look at the two closest people to you and find out what their leading motivation frame..

That would be helpful as you will be  able to effectively communicate with them.

How To Lead Yourself and Increase Your Sphere of Influence?

You can easily  Lead ourselves and impact instantly our surroundings!!!

But First Lao-Tzu in the The Way of Life said that “It is wisdom to know others;It is enlightenment to know one’s self.”

One key about the way  we’re influenced depends on our frame of reference. All of us are lead one  way or another. We’re lead either through an internal frame of reference or an external frame of reference or maybe a combination of both(in that case it’s important to know which lead is first).

What  does that mean?

As we discussed in earlier podcast(particularly about emotional targeting). Most of us are raised in “cause-effect”  chain of motion into our actions. Which means a lot of us are raised into  “action” by looking  at external circumstances. Most people would act based on their neighbors( Isn’t it where the  expression ” keeping up with the  jones” also comes from?). As social creature, human beings need confirmation from their peers to “validate” their choices.

Advertisement and psychologist have understood that in human beings , and use this, as  method to lead and influence people. This is for example where the power of “Association” is hugely used (it’s not a chance  that big companies pay huge fortune for endorsements to big stars in entertainment or sports etc…)

The idea is that many people are influenced by external frame of reference. How relevant is this?

When you are a leader of a group you need to be aware of that so you can move some people into action by using this aspect; or if you have some products/services that you know can help people, using testimonials is a way to move and lead some people to adhere to your products/services. As manager or leader of an organization, when you hire for a leadership or a position where you need “maintenance” on a certain goal or task, you need to hire people with external frame of reference;as they would need to keep doing what already works and they would need always confirmation from their peer or manager.

A simple question is to ask while hiring the individual is the following:

“How do you know when you’ve done a good job?”

people with external frame of reference will say- when I get  positive feedback etc…

While people with internal frame of reference would not worry much about people feedback an they would likely say- I know it when I ‘ve done a good job.  People with internal frame of reference are usually self starter an can move themselves based their own believes. They are comfortable moving into new spaces and exploring new territory based on their internal beliefs and conviction; that would be the case of most of the mavericks, explorers, or pioneers.

There’s no wrong, or bad answer.The idea here is to know what your tendency is. The reality is that both  are useful. The key is to know where you stand and in what context ? You can lead yourself or your team based on the context. If you are strongly external frame reference, you can look for “successful” and inspiring examples  that will motivate and inspire you.

Similarly if you are primarily internal frame of reference , you’ll have to keep your vision in front of you so you are driven by your own beliefs.

The application of the internal/external frame of reference are enormous and can be used to lead self or people around you.

It can be used to better understand people around you.

Even with your spouse? one easy question is to ask”how do you know when you feel love?”

The applications are huge if properly understood.

Now for your homework:) what is your frame of reference?

Are you mainly internal, external or both(in that case which one lead?)

Also find out the frame of reference of the two person closest to you.

Both at work and in your personal life.

Master Your Emotions!!!

Master Your Emotions!!!

You are the source of all your emotions!! Not the events, Not the circumstances, not your spouse, not your manager, not that person you have always talked about!! you are the source of your emotions!!You are the ones who creates them!!

Indeed we are always waiting for the right person, or the right situation to come along before we feel the joy, the happiness!! But who’s to decide and dictate when to feel good? I always like to ask some of my clients this “stupid” question.. let me aks you that question as well.. Do you need someone permission before you laugh?

The answer seems obvious isn’t?  Well  similarly, why would you need a particular person, or event to feel good?

The answer is simple, we’ve created RULES, Triggers(or ANCHORS), that control the way we feel.

The beauty of this is the target emotional application, or emotional targeting. which is the “premeditated” way of feeling what we want to feel. If you master this , you master your emotions and you master your life!!!!

What Trigger People to Feel a Certain Way, part 2

We can predict the way we want to feel in many ways!!! Taking control of our emotional state is so important in our daily lives.

How to take control of that?

In a previous posting we discussed about how everybody has a different set of anchors whether it be a certain song, or a certain fragrance or maybe a certain picture?  Each of us have certain triggers that make us feel a certain way? Are you aware of these triggers? If not I highly suggest to check the previous podcast and blog..

Awareness is the  first step to transmuting your destiny…

Now that we have identified our anchors, why don’t we design anchors we want.. yes   Anchors have many applications such as

Accessing resourceful state in ANY situation.. As   a performer ( ie. artist, teacher,sport person ,Doctors, sales etc), one has to perform at its best game…being able to access optimal state will be very helpful.

Condition responses in a different way that you  used to react(ie. in a relationship, if you know your spouse scream regularly and you can’t tolerate that? can you anchor yourself to respond differently- absolutely you can.. an intellectual knowledge is not enough. the anchor creation can allow you to design it at will.

Be in control of your emotional state at all times, move from procrastination to motivation, create positive association with co-workers etc…

How can I do that?  Here are 5 keys

5 keys to design and create an anchor.


Make sure  you are in a desired state and not in mixed feeling state. ie for example you are happy and empty not thinking/feeling about anything else.


Make sure you are in a heightened emotional phase. because our brain and nervous strive on emotion. the higher the emotion, the more powerful  the impact in creating new neural connection and association.


The brain learn out of mistake and unique information(as it has to learn to self preserve itself). and also the idea that anchors have to have an effect and we don’t want them be diluted.


You have to be able to  repeat.It shouldn’t be a one time wonder 🙂

You have to be able  to replicate it..

and of course

Repetition and Volume

Like in the Pavlov dog example, the more often  we condition ourselves, the more its get molded.. this is proven in all sciences.. Malcolm Gladwell talk about he 10000 hours expertise to be a master. In fact it’s the way we get most our belief while we’re kids.. a certain beliefs/behaviors are repeated upon us , over and over and over again until it become a habit..

Now you know , the factors that are involved into deigning an anchor.

Decide on one anchor you want to create.. What is one  anchor you want to create that  if executed properly would change your daily productivity?

What trigger us to feel a specific way?

In the previous post we discussed what an emotional target is.

The emotional target is a systemic approach and way that allow you to “feel” a specific desire emotion at any given time.

here we’ l l discuss about ANCHOR!!

The idea is to systemically build it into our nervous system so we can trigger it at will.It seems lunatic isn’t it?

But it’s not!! Follow me here for a second. In previous posting we discussed how the brain does 3 things because of the Excessive amount of data we receive on a daily basis. The brain Delete, Distort or Generalize information in order to be able to handle the 2 billion of data per second it’s bombarded by.

Part of the “optimization” done by our brain is to simplify so it can be effective and efficient, so it classifies.

So an anchor is a trigger which is based on a link between a specific stimulus and a response or state.It’s basically a neurological association.The most famous example of anchoring is described in the experiments of Ivan Pavlov. Every time he fed his dog, he simulteaously rang a bell or a tuning fork, and that time his dog would salivate and be excited… he did the experiment many times…

And then even when there was no food, but he would ring that bell, the dog would salivate!!==> ringing the bell was the anchor

Basically, Anchoring is the process of creating neurological associations by applying a specific stimulus to one or more of the five senses while the person is in an associated, heightened state.

So Anchoring gives quick access to any past emotional state, so that someone can experience that state at any time that they choose.

We can also have unconscious anchor in our lives during which a particular stimulus is either intense, or repetitive or both in a way;

Most of the time anchors are created in two ways.

Intensity of a state – As an individual is in a heightened emotional state while a specific stimulus is experienced, the two become linked.

Repetition of a stimulus over many hours or days. When a particular experience occurs with such

Regularity that the individual links the stimulus automatically to the simultaneously occurring state.

As you can imagine we all have anchors in our lives.

They are all around us; based on your dominant five senses (Kinesthetic, Auditory, Visual, Olfactory, Gustatory), We all have those anchors (listen in the podcast to hear more..

Part of the homework before next week podcast is for you to look at your daily life and find anchor in each 5 sense in your life?

Is it a particular smell? Music? What is it?

How to Feel the Way You Want to Feel Part 3?

As we discussed in last episode and posting we discussed about how we are at the source of all our emotions and we create them. We now know.You can feel any way you choose at any moment in time.

So the exciting news is this principle that we can create our emotion. Why wait for them and NOT create them a will. This is the WHOLE premise of Emotional target.We can change our perception in a moment, just by changing the way we use our physiology or by asking different or better question.

What do I really want to feel?What would I have to believe in order to feel the way I’ve been feeling?

The genius in this, that –We want to “reproduce” at will, the feeling we want to experience.Why not build our own rules so that we can feel what we want to feel?  Unlike animals we can design that for ourselves.So the idea is to reverse engineer and create that feeling.

The beauty of emotional targeting is that it goes back to designing the feeling at will.

The unfortunate fact is that we are raised into an action-reaction system (which is also based on Newtonian principles); let me explain-basically if you do this- you’ll l get this. In different terms you reaped what you sow. Cause-effect. In a way most of us were raised that way- I caught myself educate my 2.5 year old son that way, since I found myself unlearning some of these habits(i.e.-If you don’t eat your vegetables , you won’t get the ice cream…).

If you notice, this is the way we create our rules!!!

So for example for joy, happiness, we’ve created these rules as well, based on filters.

Well the dilemma is that for those “luxurious” or high positive emotions we want to experience most often we don’t get a chance to “experience them enough because we have high standards for ourselves.

THIS IS THE MISTAKE, as we want our body, especially our brain to get use to these emotions as most frequent as often as possible. As we saw the neural paths are created as we create emotion, which help triggers the state we want to be in.

So in a way it’s getting our brain to practice the “emotion” as most often as possible; which will increase the neural path and then will facilitate us to be triggered “easily” when that feeling occurs. It’s basically like a work out for our brain and nervous system.

So the goal is to create a triggering system that encompasses deliberate action from us.

It could be tactile, olfactory, auditory, gustatory or a combination of all these; BUT the winning point is that the triggering system (in order to be effective) must be-


Simple-so you can do it easily

Repeatable-so you can repeat it whenever you want to

Unique- so that your nervous system recognize for it to be effective.

This is your homework for next week. Choose your “emotion you want to feel as often as possible.Choose a triggering system that is unique, simple and repeatable.
